Irrigation farmers in Dige sub-zone who have been working on the basis of an Association said that they would strive to raise production both qualitatively and quantitatively in a bid to meet local demand.

Dige, 28 February 2014 – Irrigation farmers in Dige sub-zone who have been working on the basis of an Association said that they would strive to raise production both qualitatively and quantitatively in a bid to meet local demand.

They further indicated that they have been producing vegetables and fruits with major focus on banana, and called on the Agriculture Ministry’s sub-zonal branch to back up their efforts.

Speaking at a recent assessment meeting, Sheikh Dawood Haj, Chairman of the Association, pointed out that the irrigation farms are located in areas endowed with rich soil, and urged the members to step up their respective individual endeavors and refrain from applying unstudied medicines, besides adhering to consultation with professionals.

Among the members of the Association’s committee, Mr. Bakash Abdalla and Mr. Mohammed Osman stated that working as an association has favored their production level, and that they would exert more efforts for still more gratifying outcome.

Likewise, Mr. Abdelkerim Idris, Administrator of the sub-zone, advised the farmers to pursue working with synergy so as to attain higher organizational capacity and boost production, and thus making remarkable impact on the local market.
