NUEW members from PFDJ Office and Ministry of Information host joint entertainment program with female psychiatric patients

NUEW members from the PFDJ Office and the Ministry of Information, Asmara, have hosted a joint entertainment program today with female patients in Kidisti Mariam Psychiatric Hospital.

Asmara, 08 March 2014 – NUEW members from the PFDJ Office and the Ministry of Information, Asmara, have hosted a joint entertainment program today with female patients in Kidisti Mariam Psychiatric Hospital.

Among the Union’s members, Ms. Lemlem Yohanes, Ms. Senait Kesete, Ms. Daret Yosef and Ms. Asha Mohammed disclosed that the initiative also pertains to the conducting of environmental hygiene in the hospital and the extending of slippers to the patients. They further expressed satisfaction with taking part in the event, and called on others to emulate the charitable initiative.

Mr. Tekeste Mehari, Administrator of the hospital, noted the vitality of such communal gesture as regards alleviating the impact of mental diseases and fighting the stigma thereof, and that the efforts should persist in the future.

Meanwhile, female prisoners in Hazhaz Prison and Rehabilitation Center marked March 8 in collaboration with the NUEW Board for the branch in Edaga Hamus.

Representing the prisoners, Ms. Makeda Tekle pointed out the Day’s correlation with the values of Eritrean women.

The prisoners expressed satisfaction with the Center’s rehabilitation services.
