The inhabitants of Adi-Yacob expressed conviction that the construction of a bridge underway would solve the prevailing transportation problem to and fro the village.
Asmara, 11 March 2014 – The inhabitants of Adi-Yacob expressed conviction that the construction of a bridge underway would solve the prevailing transportation problem to and fro the village.
Mr. Bitew Haile, Administrator of the village, told Erina that the absence of such a facility has been causing transport difficulties during the rainy season and thus negatively affecting irrigation undertakings. He further disclosed that the construction of the bridge is witnessing popular participation involving the mobilization of more than 140 manpower on daily basis.
Among the inhabitants, Merigeta Haileyesus Semere, Rev. Teklit Haile, Mr. Yohanes Gebremichael and Haleka Tesfagiorgis Fisehatsion expressed satisfaction with the initiative the government has taken, and stated that the undertaking is approaching the finalization stage thanks to the enthusiasm and hard work witnessed on the part of the inhabitants.
Mr. Tesfai Gebreyesus, an engineer in charge of the scheme’s follow-up, expressed appreciation for the active popular participation, and pointed out that the bridge is 9 meters wide and 2.5 meters high.
