The administrator of Laela-Gash sub-zone has called for enhanced communal efforts towards raising agricultural output on the basis of continued soil and water conservation activities.
Augaro, 12 March 2014 – The administrator of Laela-Gash sub-zone has called for enhanced communal efforts towards raising agricultural output on the basis of continued soil and water conservation activities. It made the call at a meeting with Area administrators and civil servants, during which it was stated that they should prove leading role to this end.
Mr. Gide Estifanos, Administrator of the sub-zone, pointed out that popular soil and water conservation venture has been nurtured as a culture in the area in connection with the prevailing awareness thereof, and noted the vital role of the participants as regards inspiring such initiative.
Mr. Atewebirhan Yosef, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, stated on his part that indicated that the campaigns undertaken by the inhabitants have made positive impact pertaining to restoring erosion-hit areas and increasing harvest, and urged the community members to extend a helping hand towards conservation of trees. He also disclosed that an extensive community-led undertaking regarding afforestation has been set for implementation in Antore, Ugaro, Adi-Bigidi, Aitera, Mai-Qoqah, Shilalo, Birar, Gerenfit, Biko, Mai-Shegili and Adi-Hakin areas.
