The branch office of the NUEW in Gala-Nefhi sub-zone has called on community members to enhance role as regards patronizing orphans.
Asmara, 15 March 2014 – The branch office of the NUEW in Gala-Nefhi sub-zone has called on community members to enhance role as regards patronizing orphans. It made the call in connection with an entertainment session they hosted for orphans in the locality and Asmara, which occasion witnessed the conducting of environmental hygiene by the Union’s members in the environs of the places where the orphans live, in addition to the extending of clothes.
In a visit a total of 55 female members of Bidiho Construction Company conducted to the Orphanage in Godaif, Asmara, last Thursday, the members of the Union engaged in washing the orphans’ clothes and the building as a whole. They further indicated that societal input is a prerequisite regarding proper upbringing of the children, and expressed satisfaction with taking part in the charitable initiative.
Ms. Gidey Gebrekidan, who works in the orphanage for 17 years, stated that the government has been making stepped up efforts pertaining caring for orphaned children on various ways, and lauded the gesture of the female construction workers.
The board of managers for the NUEW’s branch office extended clothes to orphaned children in the sub-zone who are being taken care on the basis of a domestic group, besides awarding the female members of the group who registered outstanding marks in their academic pursuit.
One of the orphans in Adi-Guaedad, Michael Gideon, expressed satisfaction with the support, and said that public gestures of this type are vital as regards uplifting their morale.
