Inhabitants of Adi-Quala sub-zone engage in soil and water conservation undertakings

The inhabitants of 20 Administrative areas in Adi-Quala sub-zone are engaged in soil and water conservation undertakings in collaboration with the members of the People’s Army with a view to preventing soil erosion.

Adi-Quala, 17 March 2014 – The inhabitants of 20 Administrative areas in Adi-Quala sub-zone are engaged in soil and water conservation undertakings in collaboration with the members of the People’s Army with a view to preventing soil erosion.

Mr. Bereket Tesfasilassie, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, disclosed that more than 500 Km-long terraces have been constructed on a total area of 200,000 hectares through the highly organized communal endeavors which has been scheduled three times a week and witnessing guidance of agriculture experts as well as inspection of local administrative workers.

Among the participants, Ms. Kibra Ogbamichael and Mr. Habte Tsegai said that higher popular awareness prevails in the locality to this end.

Tesfasilassie Berhane, a member of the People’s Army, stated that the initiative has significant impact as regards raising agricultural output, and that such communal commitment is being demonstrated as a result of this conviction.
