Training provided aimed at controlling the prevalence of Dengue fever

As part of the ongoing efforts to reduce the prevalence of diseases and especially that of communicable diseases awareness raising training has been provided to Hospital directors, heads of health centers and heads of line ministries aimed raising knowledge on means and ways to control Dengue fever.

Massawa, 18 March 2014- As part of the ongoing efforts to reduce the prevalence of diseases and especially that of communicable diseases awareness raising training has been provided to Hospital directors, heads of health centers and heads of line ministries aimed raising knowledge on means and ways to control Dengue fever.

The two days training included on means and ways of controlling 20 top killers communicable diseases, and that extensive briefings were given by health professional on measure that should be taken to control them.

According to the report presented by Mr. Woldeyesus Belai, head of prevention and control of communicable diseases in the Health Ministry’s branch in Northern Red Sea region, it was disclosed that the prevalence of Dengue fever has been in the past confined to specific areas, and that currently its prevalence has been observed expanding to other areas in the region. He also said that the better means for controlling it is conducting sustainable sanitation campaigns.

The participants on their part expressed that the training they received would significantly help them in their endeavors, and that they would work hard to transfer their knowledge to the community members and thereby contribute their share to the efforts to control the diseases.

Likewise, Dr. Yohannes Tekeste, head of Health Ministry’s branch in the region, explained that the efforts on the part of the Health Ministry and its partners have been conducting to control the prevalence of diseases and especially that of communicable diseases is registering noticeable results, and called for stronger community participation.
