Mensura, 22 March 2014 – A water pond is being constructed in Gula Administrative area, Mensura sub-zone, on the basis of higher communal participation with a view to meet the demand for potable water.
Mr. Mhretab Tesfai, Administrator of the area, indicated that the inhabitants are demonstrating stepped-up participation in the process so as to realize the cherished goals of the undertaking before the onset of rainy season. Moreover, a 2-km dirt road was also constructed linking the village with the pond.
Among the participants, Mr. Abraham Gebreyesus, Ms. Akberet Teweldebrhan and Mr. Gebrehawariat Welderufael expressed readiness to step up participation in the community-based venture.
Tsegai Tesfai, an engineer in charge of the project’s follow-up, noted that the water pond is capable of impounding 65,000 cubic meters, and expressed appreciation for the active popular participation being witnessed in the task.
