Vegetable farmers in Mendefera sub-zone express they would exert efforts to satisfy market demands

The association of vegetable farmers in Mendefera sub-zone expressed that they would exert more efforts to satisfy market demands.

Mendefera, 26 March 2014- The association of vegetable farmers in Mendefera sub-zone expressed that they would exert more efforts to satisfy market demands.

Mr. Abdulkadir Jahar, chairman of the association, indicated that the association conducted an assessment meeting during which they extensively discussed on issues that would help strengthening the association.

According to the report presented at the meeting by Mr. Ahferom Gebremicael, work manager of the association, the association in the past six months supplied 64 thousand quintals of vegetables and fruits to the Mendefera market.

Mr. Teklu Beraki, member of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch office in the sub-zone, explained that 180 quintals of sweet potato had been distributed to farmers, and that there is future plan to distribute more.

The participants on their part called for improvement of the mishaps that have been observed in the markets, and called for supply of fertilizers and selected seeds
