The Administration of Anseba region indicated that it is exerting stepped up efforts towards promoting effective utilization of water on the basis of inspiring communal collaboration with the Water Department and regional Administration.
Keren, 29 March 2014 – The Administration of Anseba region indicated that it is exerting stepped up efforts towards promoting effective utilization of water on the basis of inspiring communal collaboration with the Water Department and regional Administration. It made the remark in connection with the staging of a training course for a total of 50 members of water management committees from Hamelmalo, Asmat and Hagaz sub-zones.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Mr. Zere Woldetinsae, head of the region’s Water Depart, pointed out that endeavors are being made to raise popular awareness to this end, and that sustainability of a number of potable water supply projects has been threatened due to misuse. The setting up of water management committees is making significant input as regards promoting ensuring water hygiene and sustainability of facilities.
Mr. Khalled Saleh, head of infrastructural services in the regional Administration, on his part called on the trainees to strive for the realization of the cherished goal.
Likewise, Mr. Gebresilasie Aradom, head of the Land and Agriculture departments in the office, noted the challenges of raising community awareness in this regard, and said that further initiatives would be made in a bid to equip the members of water management committees with the necessary facilities, besides training them.
The trainees asserted that they would do their level in realizing effective implementation of the premeditated plan.
Reports indicate that a total of 200 villages have become beneficiaries of potable water supply service.
