Asmara, 30 March 2014- The Eritrean Agricultural Professionals Association conducted 10th congress from 28 to 29 March.
In a speech he delivered at the congress in which Mr. Arefaine Berhe, Agriculture Minister, took part, Dr. Woldeselasie Okbazgi, Chairman of the association, indicated that the strengthening of the association would be paramount for it to play due role in the efforts to ensure food security, and called on the Agriculture Ministry to exert efforts in strengthening the association beyond financial assistance.
He further said that the objective of the association is to raise the knowledge and skills of its members and conduct different professional researches and other activities associated with agriculture.
Mr. Mohammed Abdurahman, Secretary of the association, indicated that 61 new members have joined the association from Hamelmalo College of Agriculture and from the Agriculture Ministry.
He also indicated the future program of the association would be organizing professional workshops, reinforce cooperation with other similar associations aimed at sharing experiences, conduct continuous contact with Eritrean agricultural professionals living abroad so that they share their expertise with the association, revise the constitution of the association, as well as providing training programs to farmers and recruit new members.
The participants on their part called for organizing skill upgrading training programs, and that they would participate in the national development programs to the level of their capacity.
