The inhabitants of Adi-Keih and Emni-Haili subzones, Southern region, are engaged in popular activities targeting enrichment of water resources and land restoration.
Adi-Keih, 04 April 2014 – The inhabitants of Adi-Keih and Emni-Haili subzones, Southern region, are engaged in popular activities targeting enrichment of water resources and land restoration.
The inhabitants of Emba-Quaquat and Mirgats area, Adi-Keih sub-zone, are engaged in installation of water pipeline linking Mihimas dam to their village on the basis of higher communal participation.
Mr. Mengisteab Tsehaimereb, Administrator of Emba-Quaquat area, indicated that a more-than-5-km. canal has been dug for installation of potable water route through mobilization of a total of 450 manpower.
Likewise, Mr. Jemal Mohammed Shifa, Administrator of Haineba Administrative area, disclosed that the local inhabitants have renovated a 14-km dirt road from Adi-Keih to their village in a similar communal pursuit.
Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Emni-Haili sub-zone are carrying out a popular undertaking with a view to preventing soil erosion in collaboration with the members of the People’s Army. Mr. Zemichael Tsegai, Irrigation development expert in the sub-zone, stated that the community-led venture which aims at raising agricultural output is witnessing harmonized collaboration on the part of local administrations and the Agriculture Ministry.
