Massawa, 05 April 2014 – The inhabitants of Engel administrative area, Northern Red Sea region, indicated that the health station there is rendering commendable services, and thus making remarkable impact as regards raising communal awareness and promoting community wellbeing.
Accordingly, number of beneficiaries who have been admitted to the health station has witnessing significant growth attesting to prevalence of community awareness on health issues.
Among the inhabitants, Ms. Fatina Yasin, Ms. Sofia Ahmed and Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim disclosed that the locality is witnessing development on health service, especially pertaining to doing away with harmful customary practices, maternity, as well as mother and child care.
Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed, head of the health station, stated that it provides diverse services such as antenatal and postnatal care, child care, VCT, as well as immunization, besides outreach immunization and other services. In this connection, child and mother mortality rate in the area has shown a visible decline
Engel village is located some 160 Km. south-east of the Port city of Massawa.
