Debarwa, 05 April 2014 – The inhabitants of Takita village, Debarwa sub-zone, said that water supply from Warsai Dam has encourages yearly double harvest, besides the fact that the demand for potable water could be met both for humans and livestock.
Among the inhabitants, Mr. Ketema Gebremichael and Rev. Tewoldebirhan Libanos explained that enrichment of underground water potential in the area has favored vegetable and crop production, as well as grazing areas.
Mr. Biniam Yemane from the agricultural site in Tera-Emni disclosed that a total area of more than 15 hectares in the environs of the Dam has been put under cultivation.
Likewise, Mr. Amanuel Zemuy, Administrator of the village, called on the community members to practice judicious utilization of water.
Warsai Dam can impound 3.1 million cubic meters of water, thus creating a potential for irrigating around 300 hectares.
