The Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis indicated that reviving sports activities calls for joint endeavors on the part of all nationals. She made the remark at a meeting which was conducted in Massawa city to elect new members of regional sports federations. Massawa, 18 April 2014 – The Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis indicated that reviving sports activities calls for joint endeavors on the part of all nationals. She made the remark at a meeting which was conducted in Massawa city to elect new members of regional sports federations.

Speaking at the meeting in which sub-zonal Administrators, sports communities and invited guests took part, Ms. Tsigereda noted the vitality of community-based sports activities, called on the inhabitants to back up sports activities. She also expressed the Administration’s readiness to collaborate in such activities.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Hisabu Gebresilasie, Sport commissioner in the region, gave briefings regarding the sports-bound accomplishment made throughout the region, and expressed conviction that the election of new members of regional sports federations would give added impetus to sports activities.

Likewise, Mr. Samuel Tsegai, representing the Eritrean Sport Commission, lauded the way the election process was organized, and disclosed that endeavors are being made to promote cycling and children-based sports in the region, besides upgrading the field in Massawa Stadium.

The participants of the meeting put forth views on a several issues, and the regional federations pertain to cycling, football, volleyball, basketball, athletics and camel racing.
