Inhabitants of Geleb sub-zone putting up sustained effort in a bid to raise agricultural output

The inhabitants of Geleb sub-zone pointed out that they are putting up sustained efforts in a bid to raise agricultural output through soil and water conservation.

Geleb, 26 April 2014- The inhabitants of Geleb sub-zone pointed out that they are putting up sustained efforts in a bid to raise agricultural output through soil and water conservation.

Accordingly, the community with in the sub-zone are engaged in an extensive popular undertakings thereof since last February.

Among the inhabitants Mr. Etel Shiker, Ms. Niema Maohamed andu, Mr. Abdu Jawuj, Mr. Aedella Yegi and Mebrahtu Tsegai indicated that the communal ventures involves construction of diversion canals, terraces and water catchment walls with a major focus on farming areas.

Mr. Ahmed Osman Furuj, Administrator of Geleb sub-zone, said that the community led program is being executed in line with the endeavors that are being made at national level to ensure food security. He further expressed appreciation for the active participation being demonstrated by each family in the sub-zone.

Reports indicates that more than 27.000 cubic meters of water catchments walls and 7km long terraces have been constructed on the basis of the popular task.
