Community representatives in Asmara laud government initiative towards safeguarding societal wellbeing
Community representatives from the sub-zones of Asmara city lauded the government’s initiative towards safeguarding societal wellbeing and promoting health service quality.
Asmara, 28 April 2014 – Community representatives from the sub-zones of Asmara city lauded the government’s initiative towards safeguarding societal wellbeing and promoting health service quality.
They made the remark at the respective meetings organized the PFDJ branch in the Central region, during which Mr. Eyob Araya and Mr. Tewolde Yohanes, heads of political affairs and organizational affairs in the branch office, explained that the meetings are aimed at creating forum for communities and service institutions.
According to the report presented by the Health Ministry’s regional branch at the meeting, various projects are underway of implementation in a bid to promote quality and equitability of health service, while there exist a total of 38 health institutions and higher efforts are being made to further the number of health professionals and drug supply.
In this connection, instances of communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as child and mother mortality rate is on the decline. Some of the exemplary accomplishments in this regard pertain to the new mode of TB treatment, introduction of soak-pit latrines through a community-led manner, VCT, immunization and others.
