Keren, 30 April 2014 – Mr. Gergis Girmai, Administrator of Anseba region, said that implementation of development programs has gained momentum in the region. It made the remark at an assessment meeting with sub-zonal and Area Administrators, during which he stated that remarkable work accomplishments have been registered as regards construction of the micro-dams, the putting in place of potable water supply facilities and irrigation farming.
Accordingly, construction of a health station and community hospital is underway in Tahira, Sel’a sub-zone, and Kerkebet sub-zone respectively, while there is a plan to put in place a boarding school in Amalayit and upgrade an Elementary school in Agimayit.
Moreover, coverage of mobile telephone service in the region was described commendable and the process of electrification in Habero sub-zone based on Keren city is expected to be finalized shortly. The Administration also extended water pumps so as to encourage dairy farmers in Daerotai, as efforts are being exerted to foster green feed production in Habero area.
Mr. Gergis further disclosed that enhanced endeavors are being put up to raise apicultural output in Geleb sub-zone, in addition to the constriction of micro-dams targeting further irrigation farming activities. So far, breeding activities have been conducted on more than 750 selected cattle species in the locality, he added.
