The workshop organized by the Eritrean Ministry of Trade and Industry as well as the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) focusing on human resource capacity building was concluded yesterday.

Asmara, 01 May 2014 – The workshop organized by the Eritrean Ministry of Trade and Industry as well as the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) focusing on human resource capacity building was concluded yesterday.

The workshop which witnessed participation of around 40 individuals from governmental and non-governmental institutions dealt with the plans of COMESA, advantages and challenges of free zone, origin of goods and regulations, the African organization’s regulations regarding primary imports from Eritrea, as well as non-tariff trade quandaries, among others.

In closing remarks, Ms. Zeferewerk Fisehaye, Director of foreign relations in the Ministry, and Ms. Helen Kenani, representing COMESA’s Secretariat, pointed out that the workshop provided groundwork for raising the awareness pertaining to the objectives and work procedures of the south-eastern Africa’s body. They further expressed appreciation for the active discussion conducted by the participants.

The participants of the workshop on their part called on the Ministry of Trade and Industry to enhance efforts as regards organizing such trainings sessions.

The trainers, from COMESA, received souvenirs from Mr. Yosef Tekle, Director General of the Customs Department.
