Instances of crime on the decline in Hagaz sub-zone following the conducting of extensive promotional campaign

The Office of the Police Force in Hagaz sub-zone indicated that instances of crime are on the decline in the locality following the conducting of an extensive promotional campaign and the setting up of community police.

Hagaz, 02 May 2014 – The Office of the Police Force in Hagaz sub-zone indicated that instances of crime are on the decline in the locality following the conducting of an extensive promotional campaign and the setting up of community police. It made the remark at a meeting with the inhabitants of Shebeq, Ad-Arey and Ad-Omar Administrative areas.

Heading the meeting, Sub-lieutenant Kifleyesus Isaac, Commander of the police station in the sub-zone, called on communities to keep intact cultural values, enhance collaboration with the Police and raise awareness regarding law so as to promote peace.

Accordingly, the promotional campaigns conducted previously by the office targeting the inhabitants in general and students as well as youths in particular have given rise to a 13% and 46% drop in instances of crime and offenses respectively as opposed to that of last year, besides the fact that the trend of traffic accidents has witnessed a slash by 56%.

In the course of the meeting, Sub-lieutenant Kifleyesus gave briefings focusing on the issues of legal accountability, enforcement of law, crime prevention and the role of the Police to this end, as well as cases entertained by magisterial courts, among others.

The participants of the meeting on their part put forth views regarding a number of issues.
