The Administration of Gel’alo sub-zone pointed out that it is exerting endeavors in a bid to promote social service outreach in remote areas.
Gel’alo, 05 May 2014 – The Administration of Gel’alo sub-zone pointed out that it is exerting endeavors in a bid to promote social service outreach in remote areas.
Mr. Ahmed Bukaliya, Administrator of the sub-zone, said that development programs implemented in the locality have given rise to improvement of community livelihood and furthered people’s resort to community-based living style.
Accordingly, various underground water reservoirs are being put in place in the sub-zone in collaboration with the members of the People’s Army with a view to meeting water demand for both humans and livestock. Moreover, health facilities are rendering commendable service, while a new health station has been put in place in Engela area and community awareness regarding health issues as well as harmful customary practices is on the rise.
Mr. Ahmed disclosed that there exist a total of 26 schools rendering service from elementary to high level, and that a new Elementary School was inaugurated recently in Engela Administrative area. Integrated efforts are also being put up so as to raise the number of school registrations, he added.
Reports indicate that community-led activities involving participation of members of the People’s Army are expected to begin in the near future targeting renovation of the dirt roads linking Gel’alo-Buya-Engela and a water diversion canal.
