Customs branch in Massawa Port disposes 62 quintals of expired cigarette

The branch of the Customs Office in Massawa Port disposed 62 quintals of expired sub-standard cigarette through burning last Wednesday in the presence of representatives from the Administration of the city, Quarantine Bureau and the Police.

Massawa, 09 May 2014 – The branch of the Customs Office in Massawa Port disposed 62 quintals of expired sub-standard cigarette through burning last Wednesday in the presence of representatives from the Administration of the city, Quarantine Bureau and the Police.

Mr. Isa Abdalla, Head of the branch office, pointed out that the 361cartons of cigarette were brought under control while crossing the Eritrean territorial waters of Eritrea for a transit to Sudan in line with the International Customs Agreements.

Reports indicate that the office disposed various expired and sub-standard food items as well as other consumer goods previously in the same manner.
