Training has been conducted in the Northern Red Sea region for a total of 160 members of 8 village water committees with a view to ensuring sustainability of potable water supply.

Massawa, 10 May 2014 – Training has been conducted in the Northern Red Sea region for a total of 160 members of 8 village water committees with a view to ensuring sustainability of potable water supply.

The training that was carried out in Foro semi-urban center involved theoretical and practical aspects of effective water use, bookkeeping, water hygiene, and basics of water supply system.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amanuel Goitom from the region’s Water Development Department stated that similar trainings are being conducted region-wide in a bid to promote sustainability of water supply and inspiring judicious use thereof. He also said that water committees have the responsibility to cover maintenance fees of potable water supply facilities through raising income.

The trainees expressed satisfaction with the training, and asserted that they would strive to guarantee sustainability of potable water supply projects.
