Asmara, 12 May 2014 – The Commander of the Eritrean Police Force, Col. Mehari Tsegai, has called on students to prove competence as regards knowledge and new technology. Col. Mehari made the call at a seminar with more than 1,000 students from the Colleges of Health Science in Asmara, during which he gave briefings as regards types of crime and the role of teachers as well as students thereof, in addition to the proclaimed laws and cultural values versus ethical standard.
Accordingly, the nation is in a state where crimes that cause apprehension are not being witnessed as opposed to the conditions of neighboring countries. However, concerted action needs to be taken to control instances of crime in general.
Moreover, the trend of previously registered crimes by youths is related to weak parental follow-up and peer pressure as causes.
Col. Mehari further urged students to play due role as regards lowering instances of traffic accident, abide by traffic law and prove ethical virtue.
