Inhabitants of 4 Administrative areas in Hagaz sub-zone engage in soil and water conservation undertaking
The inhabitants of Awenjeli, Fana, Enchinaq and Ashera Administrative areas, Hagaz sub-zone, are engaged in soil and water conservation undertaking in a bid to raising agricultural output.
Hagaz, 14 May 2014 – The inhabitants of Awenjeli, Fana, Enchinaq and Ashera Administrative areas, Hagaz sub-zone, are engaged in soil and water conservation undertaking in a bid to raising agricultural output.
Mr. Ibrahim Jimi’e, Administrator of Awenjeli area, disclosed that the communal venture is scheduled 3 times a week, and that subsequently small water diversion canals have been constructed on a total of 250 hectares. He further indicated that the task would continue, and that the community members could utilize resources effectively following their resorting to community-based style of living.
Likewise, Mr. Hamd Mahmoud, Administrator of Enchinaq area, stated that the popular scheme involves construction of terraces, water catchment walls and forestry activities. Accordingly, terraces totally measuring 5 km. have been constructed, while a solar-energy-powered potable water supply facility has been renovated.
Meanwhile, the similar undertaking in Ashera area is witnessing activities that are bound to preparation of farmland and backing the construction of a dam in the area, besides renovation of a dirt road.
“In Fana area the popular venture would continue until June,” the local Administrator, Sheikh Seid Mohammed Ali indicated.
