Barentu, 21 May 2014 – Reporters indicated the 23rd Independence Day anniversary has celebrated yesterday in Barentu city at regional level under the theme ‘‘We Toil Today for a Bright Tomorrow” witnessing higher patriotic zeal.
Carnival shows by sub-zonal and area Administrations, cultural performances and other activities added fervor to the ceremony. Moreover, the Regional Marching Band’s and military parade, student calisthenics show, musical dramas, as well as new songs in various national languages were part of the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Fissehaye Haile, Administrator of the region, said that the event is an occasion when nationals should reiterate readiness to step up participation in national development programs, and called on the inhabitants to sustain input in State affairs.
Mr. Fissehaye further expressed appreciation for those who made remarkable input as regards organizing the ceremony.
Mr. Bereket Tekeste, Chairman of the Holidays Coordinating Committee in the region, pointed out that extensive preparations were made in a bid to adequately portray in the event the ongoing national development activities vis-à-vis the cherished prosperity of the nation.
Participants of the event expressed satisfaction with its manner.
