The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Hagaz sub-zone indicated that vaccination campaign was conducted on around 56,000 livestock targeting external and internal parasites.

Hagaz, 21 May 2014 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Hagaz sub-zone indicated that vaccination campaign was conducted on around 56,000 livestock targeting external and internal parasites.

Mr. Kidane Kibrom, head of the branch office, explained that the one-week campaign is aimed at controlling reproductions of potential parasites in connection with the rainy season, and that it could be accomplished successfully in collaboration with stakeholders. He further lauded the active role of Area administrators and agriculture experts in the process.

Accordingly, the major challenge of the campaign was bound to migratory lifestyle of farmers, and the campaign would continue in October.

In this connection, Mr. Kidane called on farmers to put up higher efforts for rain-fed farming, and disclosed that distribution of chicks would continue shortly.

Framers in the locality expressed appreciation for the initiative taken by the Ministry of Agriculture, and said that livestock production has witnessed raised outcome as result of such services and availability of reliable water supply.
