The 23rd Independence Day anniversary celebrated yesterday at regional level in Mendefera.

Mendefera, 23 May 2014- The 23rd Independence Day anniversary celebrated yesterday at regional level in Mendefera.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Efrem Gebrekrstos, Administrator of the region, indicated that strong foundation has been put in place with the extensive efforts being exerted in infrastructure and agricultural developments. Indicating that the price paid for independence is to be compensated through development and social justice, he called up on the inhabitants to make due contribution towards the realization of the set out goals.

Mr. Abraham Yohannes, Chairman of Holidays Coordinating Committee, on his part stated that the residents of the region have been exerting strong effort to organize the festivity, which attests the honor and respect they give to their independence. He further expressed appreciation for the active participation demonstrated by the residents in organizing the ceremony.

According to reports, the celebration in which Ministers, Army Commanders as well as government and Front officials participated has been highlighted by marching band, modern and traditional songs.
