Central region: Second phase of Independence Carnival conducted along main streets of Asmara

Second phase of the Central region’s Independence Carnival was conducted along main streets of Asmara yesterday involving participation of institutions and sub-zonal Administrations.

Asmara, 22 May 2014 – Second phase of the Central region’s Independence Carnival was conducted along main streets of Asmara yesterday involving participation of institutions and sub-zonal Administrations.

The carnival show was inaugurated by Mr. Zerit Tewoldebrhan, Managing Director at the Central region, at Shida Square, and a total of 24 institutions and 6 Administrations staged shows.

Among the participants, Mr. Tewolde Mamo said that they have been making significant preparations to stage the show, and he appreciated the audience on the streets for adding color to the shows.

Mr. Tsegai Gebremedhin amd Ms. Halima Hamid on their part said that the carnival portrays the long history of struggle for independence and national sovereignty, and that they are proud to observe the Independence Day anniversary being celebrated with such colorful manner.

Mr. Salahdin Ibrahim who organized the carnival for Al-Mahad School indicated that he has been witnessing the carnivals staged on the streets qualitatively progressing by the year.
