Eritrean community members in Riyadh and its environs celebrated the 23rd Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal.

Asmara, 24 May 2014- Eritrean community members in Riyadh and its environs celebrated the 23rd Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal.

Speaking on the occasion in which thousands of Eritrean nationals participated, Mr. Mohammed-Omar Mahmoud, Eritrean Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, indicated that the 23rd Independence Day anniversary is being celebrated at a time when the Eritrean people and the Defense Forces foiled the external conspiracies with staunch resistance.

Mr. Girmai Yemane, Chairman of the Eritrean community in Riyadh and its environs, on his part said that thanks to the strong efforts being exerted by the People and Government of Eritrea the country is standing on firm ground, and called on nationals to reinforce participation in national development programs.

The celebration was highlighted by sports activities, cultural shows and others.

On the occasion, the Eritrean International School in Riyadh presented to Ambassador Mohammed-Omar Mamoud the award it received from the Saudi Arabia Education Ministry for standing second in the Arabic language completions among 50 International schools.
