Eritrean community members in Khartoum and its environs celebrated on 23 May the 23rd Independence Day anniversary with patriotic fervor.
Asmara, 25 May 2014- Eritrean community members in Khartoum and its environs celebrated on 23 May the 23rd Independence Day anniversary with patriotic fervor.
Speaking on the occasion in which Government officials, representatives of Sudanese parties and associations, Ambassador of different countries as well as a number of Eritrean nationals participated, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, Charge D’Affairs at the Eritrean Embassy, indicated that Eritrea is standing on firm ground foiling the external conspiracies with staunch resistance by its nationals inside the country and abroad.
He further said that the strong relation between Eritrea and the Sudan is based on the interest of the two peoples, and that the existing diplomatic cooperation attests to that end.
Representing the Government of the Sudan, Mr. Ahmed Babkir Nahar, Minister of Transportation, stated that the relation of the two countries has popular foundation, and that has been based on the interest of the two peoples.
The occasion has been highlighted with variety of cultural shows.
The 23rd Independence Day celebrations would continue in the cities of Port Sudan, Gedarif and Kassala in the coming days.
