Independence Day celebrated with enthusiasm in Port Sudan

The Eritrean community members in Port Sudan and its environs celebrated the 23rd Independence Day anniversary with enthusiasm on 28 and 29 May.

Asmara, 30 May 2014 – The Eritrean community members in Port Sudan and its environs celebrated the 23rd Independence Day anniversary with enthusiasm on 28 and 29 May.

Speaking at the ceremony in which a number of youths and Senior officials of the Sudanese Red Sea region took part, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, Executive of Embassy Affairs in the Eritrean Embassy in the Republic of Sudan, said that the event is an occasion when nationals should reiterate readiness to step up participation in national development programs.

Delivering a solidarity message on the occasion, Mr. Selah Sire-Al-Khetm, Minister of Finance and Deputy Administrator of the Sudanese region, asserted readiness to sustain input as regards fostering bilateral relations between Sudan in general and the region in particular with Eritrea. He went on to state that the participation of Dr. Mohammed Tahir Eila, the Region’s Administrator, in the celebration attests to the prevailing strong ties between both countries.

Likewise, Mr. Andemariam Gebremichael, Chairman of the Eritrean community in the Red Sea region of Sudan, explained that the specialty of the event lays on the fact that anti-Eritrea conspiracies have ended up in fiasco, and voiced the member’s readiness to step up efforts towards enhancing its organization.

The event witnessed cultural performances by Rim Cultural Troupe from Homeland.
