The branch of the NUEW in the Central region indicated that it would step up efforts in a bid to promoting professional capacity and economic potential of members.
Asmara, 30 May 2014 – The branch of the NUEW in the Central region indicated that it would step up efforts in a bid to promoting professional capacity and economic potential of members. It made the remark at a meeting last Wednesday, during which the 10-year work accomplishments of the branch office were scrutinized.
In a report she presented at the meeting, Ms. Tekea Tesfamichael, Head of the branch office, pointed out that major achievements have been made as regards enhancing organization and raising awareness of members, besides disclosing that the role of members was significant pertaining to encouraging EDF members and participation in national development activities as well as national holidays.
She went on to state that the branch office also played remarkable role as regards extending financial support and learning supplies to members and needy female students respectively.
Accordingly, programs implemented with a view to raising the production capacity of members and doing away with harmful customary practices have witnessed positive impact, in addition to popularization of cultural values.
In the course of the meeting, Dr. Fikak Hibtiyes, a national residing in the USA, conducted seminar regarding empowerment of women.
The participants put forth views focusing on a number of issues, and expressed readiness to extend a helping hand for the realization of the cherished goals.
