Eritrean community members in various cities abroad celebrate Independence Day with enthusiasm

Eritrean community members in Gedarif, Sudan, Nairobi, Kenya, Hamburg and Tubingen, Germany, as well as Bologna, Italy, celebrated the 23rd Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal, according reports.

Asmara, 03 June 2014 –Eritrean community members in Gedarif, Sudan, Nairobi, Kenya, Hamburg and Tubingen, Germany, as well as Bologna, Italy, celebrated the 23rd Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal, according reports.

Speaking at the ceremony in Gedarif city in which officials of the Sudanese region, community elders and various nationals took part, Mr. Ismail Musa, Head of public affairs in the Eritrean Embassy in the Republic of Sudan, said that the manner nationals celebrate the momentous Day attests to the way they cherish national independence, and called on the community members to enhance role in State affairs.

Mr. Omer Abas Abudgn, representing Mayor of Gedarif, expressed readiness of the region’s Administration along with that of the residents to collaborate with the Eritrean people as well as their leadership.

Likewise, Mr. Tewolde Russom, Chairman of the Eritrean community in Gedarif and its environs, stated that the event is an occasion when nationals should reiterate readiness to step up participation in national development programs.

The event witnessed cultural performance by Rim Cultural Troupe from the Homeland.

Moreover, the Eritrean community members in the German cities of Hamburg and Tubingen, as well as Bologna, Italy, and Nairobi, Kenya, celebrated the event with patriotic fervor.
