Southern Red Sea region: Meeting conducted with a view to assessing activities in connection with Independence Day anniversary

A meeting was conducted in the port city of Assab  with a view to assessing activities organized in connection with the 23rd Independence Day anniversary in the Southern Red Sea region, and it was described that they have made major impact as regards popularizing national values among the youth.

Assab, 04 June 2014 – A meeting was conducted in the port city of Assab  with a view to assessing activities organized in connection with the 23rd Independence Day anniversary in the Southern Red Sea region, and it was described that they have made major impact as regards popularizing national values among the youth.

According to the reports presented at the meeting, the ceremony was conducted for the first time outside of Assab, and community festivities had added color to the event. Moreover, programs staged at Ras-Gombo Hotel drew a total audience of 15,000, while exhibitions by students and youths witnessed higher creativity.

Meanwhile, the participants of the meeting conducted discussion pertaining to hosting special programs for the youth in connection with Martyrs Day on June 20, and agreed to begin implementing them starting from now.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Gergis Girmai, Administrator of the region, expressed appreciation for the harmonized work undertaken to mark Independence Day colorfully, and called for higher endeavors in the future to this end.
