Families victimized by fire accident in Degoli area obtain financial and material support

A total of 15 families in Degoli Administrative area, Massawa sub-zone, who lost their shelter and properties in fire accident recently have received 135, 550 Nakfa and food as well as clothing supplies worth 100,000 Nakfa.

Massawa, 09 June 2014 –   A total of 15 families in Degoli Administrative area, Massawa sub-zone, who lost their shelter and properties in fire accident recently have received 135, 550 Nakfa and food as well as clothing supplies worth 100,000 Nakfa.
The Administration of the port city of Massawa indicated that the support was donated by various individuals and government bodies including EDF divisions.

Speaking at the handing session, Mr. Kidane Weldesilasie, Mayor of Massawa, pointed out that the process of raising the fund was facilitated by the city Administration on the basis of a task force soon after the incident.

The beneficiary families said that such support attests to the prevalence of culture of collaboration in Eritrea, besides the government’s care for its citizens. They also asserted readiness to improve their livelihood taking the support as a stepping stone.

Mr. Zeresenay Gayim, Administrator of 03 -Administrative area in the port city, expressed appreciation for the popular initiative, and expressed conviction that pertinent bodies would sustain following-up on the livelihood of the families.
