Fruits and vegetable farmers in Robrobi and Fatum-Are, Foro sub-zone, have asserted readiness to strive to boost production with a view to meeting local demand.

Foro, 10 June 2014 – Fruits and vegetable farmers in Robrobi and Fatum-Are, Foro sub-zone, have asserted readiness to strive to boost production with a view to meeting local demand.

The farmers indicated that promotional activities as regards irrigation farming have made significant impact towards raising their production capacity. They also explained that the area is endowed with rich underground water resource essential for irrigation farming throughout the year.

The farmers further called on Agriculture experts to extend a helping hand through providing consultation services for still more gratifying outcome to this end.

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone indicated that a total of 90hectares have been put under cultivation in the locality, in addition to  a total of 100 farmers being engaged in the process. Moreover, their harvest has been distributed to Massawa and Asmara so far.
