The Association of Apiculture Farmers in the Central region indicated that stepped-up efforts are being exerted in a bid to meet the growing demand for abundant honey in the region.
Asmara, 12 June 2014 – The Association of Apiculture Farmers in the Central region indicated that stepped-up efforts are being exerted in a bid to meet the growing demand for abundant honey in the region.
Mr. Eyob Kinfe, Chairman of the Association, said that the 10-year old Association has a total of 100 members, and that its production is being supplied to customers at 400 Nakfa per kilo with 20% discount from the actual price in the market.
Accordingly, workshops have been provided for members in collaboration with the Agriculture Ministry with a view to raising their production capacity. He further stated that around 60 to 70 quintals of honey were obtained this year.
