Reports indicated that youths in the Northern Red Sea region have called for proper conservation of historic trenches in which heroic feats were witnessed in the days of the armed struggle for independence. They made the call in connection with a tour they made around Afabet and Nacfa trenches.
Masswa, 11 June 2014 – Reports indicated that youths in the Northern Red Sea region have called for proper conservation of historic trenches in which heroic feats were witnessed in the days of the armed struggle for independence. They made the call in connection with a tour they made around Afabet and Nacfa trenches.
Mr. Idris Osman, head of the National Union of Eritrean Youths and Students(NUEYS) in the region, and Mr. Idris Mohammed, head of political and organizational affairs in the Union’s branch office, noted the significance of the trenches vis-à-vis popularization of national values. Moreover, the trenches are vital heritage and reference for future generations.
They also called for nurturing the cultural values and the unique political culture of the EPLF demonstrated during the armed struggle for independence to the young generation through proper conservation of the trenches.
Participants of the tour expressed satisfaction with the exposure they had and expressed conviction that they would continue such a tour in a highly organized manner in the future.
