A book in Tigrinya titled “Mahfuda Tarik” which comprises 7 true stories of the Eritrean armed struggle for independence was inaugurated yesterday at Embasoira Hotel hall here in the capital

Asmara, 19 June 2014 – A book in Tigrinya titled “Mahfuda Tarik” which comprises 7 true stories of the Eritrean armed struggle for independence was inaugurated yesterday at Embasoira Hotel hall here in the capital.

The book was written jointly by the National Holidays Coordinating Committee and Associations of freedom fighters.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Habtegergish Tesfamariam, Chairman of the Associations, indicated that the book is aimed at bequeathing the culture and values of the Eritrean society to the young generation. He further said that it is part of the endeavors being made by the Associations to popularize the values of the armed struggle on the basis of preparing camps of the struggle, exhibitions, and documentary films, among others during national holidays.

Also speaking on the occasion, Ms. Leul Gebreab, President of the NUEW, stated that the initiative is a step to furthering the documentation of Eritrean history, and expressed appreciation for the initiative taken by the Associations to this end.

Mr. Mihreteab Kidane, making review of the book, pointed out that it depicts the immense sacrifices paid for independence and the Eritrean steadfastness, as well as the dedication demonstrated in the armed struggle.

The participants of the inauguration noted the vitality of the book as regards nurturing the Eritrean cultural values among the youth.

In closing remarks, Mr. Alemseghed Tesfai and Mr. Gebretinsae Damir, history researchers, presented analysis and review of the book.
