A meeting was conducted yesterday towards enabling the launching of joint research venture between the Eritrean Ministry of Health and China’s Shanghai region in line with the existing agreements between the two countries in various development domains.
Asmara, 19 June 2014 – A meeting was conducted yesterday towards enabling the launching of joint research venture between the Eritrean Ministry of Health and China’s Shanghai region in line with the existing agreements between the two countries in various development domains.
In the course of the meeting, Ms. Amina Nur-Hussein, Minister of Health, noted the historic nature of Sino-Eritrean relations, and pointed out that the ties between the two countries have witnessed remarkable step in the domain of health.
She further lauded the Chinese region’s input in the endeavors being made by Eritrea as regards control of communicable diseases in general and tropical diseases in particular vis-à-vis human resource development.
Heading the Chinese delegation, Mr. Han Weijun, Deputy Director General of the Shanghai Municipal Commission’s Health and Family Planning, said that he is in a position to observe the development stride registered by health service institutions in Eritrea. He also expressed the delegation’s readiness to foster the relations.
A number of officials from the Eritrean Ministry of Health gave briefings pertaining to the objective situation in communicable and tropical diseases, as well as the research undertakings conducted and the initiatives taken thereof.
