Nationals inside the country and abroad yesterday conducted outdoor and indoor candle light vigil activities in memory of Martyrs Day.

Asmara, 20 June 2014 – Nationals inside the country and abroad yesterday conducted outdoor and indoor candle light vigil activities in memory of Martyrs Day.

Speaking at the ceremony conducted at Bahti-Meskerem square here in the capital , Maj. General Ramadan Osman Awliyai, Administrator of the Central region, pointed out the heavy barbaric acts committed on the Eritrean people just because of their aspiration for national independence. He further indicated that nationals are in a position to enjoy peace thanks to the incomparable life sacrifice paid to this end, and said that the

event is a time when nationals should reiterate readiness to mount participation in national development and resistance against external conspiracies.

The participants of the ceremony stated that the supreme tribute of the fallen heroes shall live forever, and that they would put up further efforts to bequeath national values to the young generation. They also expressed conviction that the Eritrean people would put up enhanced work for the nation’s prosperity and honoring the trust of martyrs.

A number of artistic works were displayed in the course of the ceremony highlighting the significance of the Day.
