Support being extended to families of martyrs in Central region

Reports indicated that a total o f 716 thousand Nakfa contributed by residents of Akria, Godaif, Maekel-Ketema, Tsetserat and Paradiso sub-zones, as well as Halai Secondary School students has been distributed to 80 families of martyrs in the Central region.

Asmara, 25 June 2014 – Reports indicated that a total o f 716 thousand Nakfa contributed by residents of Akria, Godaif, Maekel-Ketema, Tsetserat and Paradiso sub-zones, as well as Halai Secondary School students has been distributed to 80 families of martyrs in the Central region.

Speaking at the handing event in Tsetserat sub-zone, Ms. Gergis Hailes, head of the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare in the sub-zone, said that the initiative is taken on an annual basis. Besides, a total of 48,000 Nakfa has been distributed to 8 families.

Mr. Abraham Teklehaimanot, Administrator of the sub-zone, said that such support attests to the prevalence of the culture of collaboration in country, and expressed appreciation for the individuals who took the initiative.

Among the beneficiary families, Ms. Azezet Aregai and Mr. Ibrahim Abdelqadir, stated that the support extended to them by the government and citizens has enabled them to lead improved lifestyle.

The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in the region pointed out that a total of 3.5 million Nakfa contributed by citizens residing abroad has been paid to 382 families of martyrs.
