The first phase of children’s immunization campaign is underway in the Central region involving Vitamin-A in line with the Health Ministry’s goal of promoting the wellbeing of those aged under 5 years.
Asmara, 26 June 2014 – The first phase of children’s immunization campaign is underway in the Central region involving Vitamin-A in line with the Health Ministry’s goal of promoting the wellbeing of those aged under 5 years.
The campaign is due to continue until the 29th of this month based on 147 permanent and temporary stations.
Mr. Goitom Assefaw, Coordinator of nutritional schemes in the Ministry’s branch in the Central region, stated that the campaign is carried away twice a year targeting mental development of children, besides resistance to diseases.
He went on to state that Vitamin-A in a prerequisite as regards reducing child mortalities caused by Measles, diarrhea and other diseases by the rates of 50%, 40% and 25% respectively. He also called on parents to pay due visit to the stations and immunize children timely.
The Second phase of the program would be conducted next December.
