Agordat sub-zone inhabitants undertake soil and water conservation activities

The inhabitants of Agordat sub-zone have conducted soil and water conservation activities on the basis of higher popular participation.

Agordat, 10 July 2014 – The inhabitants of Agordat sub-zone have conducted soil and water conservation activities on the basis of higher popular participation.

Agricultural experts in the sub-zone indicated that the undertaking attests to the effectiveness of integrated endeavors, and it would make significant impact towards raising agricultural output in the locality.

The participants of the task said that communal awareness prevails to this end, and that a number of the inhabitants took part in the undertaking.

Mr. Eyasu Haile, head of economic development in the sub-zone and Mr. Saleh Mohammed Osman, Administrator of Enderayeb Administrative area, disclosed that the scheme was carried out through the active participation of members of the People’s Army. The initiative targeted prevention of erosion and raising agricultural output. They further pointed out that the local inhabitants have finalized land leveling activities before the onset of the rainy season.
