The Association of Fruits and Vegetables Farmers in Anseba region said that it is striving to attain higher output.

Keren, 11 July 2014 – The Association of Fruits and Vegetables Farmers in Anseba region said that it is striving to attain higher output.

Mr. Araya Tedla, Chairman of the Association, pointed out that the major advantages of the farmers are related to breadth of farmlands and availability of water resource, and that more than 8,000 quintals of fruit and 55,000 quintals of vegetables could be harvested this year.

He further disclosed that a total of 200,000 mango seedlings would be distributed to the members of the Association in Kerkebet sub-zone.

Reports indicate that the Association has around 1,000 members, and that it has been engaging in various activities with other counterparts in the country so as to favor exchange of experience.

In this connection, the farmers called for credit opportunities and extending of other supplies.
