Asmara, 16 July 2014 – Youths in the Central region who conducted a tour of the historic Egri-Mekel trenches said that conducting such a tour shoulders heavy responsibility to youths. They made the remarks during the tour to the trenches where EDF members demonstrated heroic feats in the battle engagements.
The participants of the tour comprising about 200 youths and members of youth friends committee of Maekel-Ketema sub-zone were given briefings by the Brigade Commander in the Area as regards the steadfastness and heroic feats witnessed in the battle fields. He also stressed the need to bequeath the cultural values of the Eritrean people to the young generation.
The youth members who took part in the visit expressed satisfaction with the exposure they had experienced, and asserted readiness to live up to the commitment of honoring the trust of martyrs.
Mr. Abraham Fisehaye, head of the NUEYS branch in Maekel-Ketema sub-zone, and Ms. Nigsti Gebremichael, resident of the sub-zone, noted the vitality of the tour vis-à-vis popularizing the nation’s cultural values among the youth.
The participants of the tour called for organizing such a program in the future.
