Inhabitants of Tsa’eda-Christian express readiness to step up participation in national development programs

The inhabitants of Tsa’eda-Christian area, Berikh sub-zone, have expressed readiness to sustain input in popular undertakings, and thereby step up participation in the implementation of national development programs on the basis of highly organized community venture.

Asmara, 16 July 2014 – The inhabitants of Tsa’eda-Christian area, Berikh sub-zone, have expressed readiness to sustain input in popular undertakings, and thereby step up participation in the implementation of national development programs on the basis of highly organized community venture.

They made the pledge in connection with the popular undertakings they have undertaken last Monday.

Ms. Nigsti Yemane, Administrator of the Area, indicated that the community members have been engaged in community schemes through organizing themselves in groups twice a week since December 2013, in addition to digging around 7,000 holes for tree seedlings in the locality.

Mr. Mesfin Tewolde from the Area administrative committee stated that over 100 hectares have been terraced so far, and voiced readiness to continue the task in a highly organized manner.

The participants of the undertakings noted the significance of planting trees for the prevention of erosion, and called on the community members to enhance role in this regard.
