Over 32 thousand students taking part in SWP

Mr. Fitwi Woldegergis, head of the Students Summer Work Program (SWP) at the Education Ministry, indicated that over 32 thousand students and about 2,000 teachers, as well as Agriculture experts, health worker and supervisors are taking part in the Program across the nation.

Asmara, 17 July 2014 – Mr. Fitwi Woldegergis, head of the Students Summer Work Program (SWP) at the Education Ministry, indicated that over 32 thousand students and about 2,000 teachers, as well as Agriculture experts, health worker and supervisors are taking part in the Program across the nation.

He told Erina that the program got underway early in the Southern Red Sea region due to the specific geo-climatic conditions there, and in the other regions it began on 7th July. Moreover, the program is being implemented in 44 sub-zones and 148 stations across the country focusing on soil and water conservation, tree planting and traffic safety, among others, he added.

Mr. Fitwi also stated that about 100 buses and minibuses are transporting the participants, and indicated that the Ministry of Agriculture is making the necessary facilities to the scheme.
