A call has been made for stepped-up efforts towards strengthening relations between employers and employees at a workshop conducted in Barentu city involving civil servants from various governmental institutions.
Barentu, 18 July 2014 – A call has been made for stepped-up efforts towards strengthening relations between employers and employees at a workshop conducted in Barentu city involving civil servants from various governmental institutions.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Kibreab Kidane, head of labor relations in the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers (NCEW), explained the significance and vitality of organization vis-à-vis securing the rights and responsibilities of workers. He further called on the participants to enhance organizational capacity for a still more gratifying outcome to this end.
Likewise, Mr. Hamid Ibrahim from NCEW gave briefings focusing on the importance of safety, management and other issues at work environments, along with the role of employers and employees as regards raising institutional revenue and employee salaries.
Mr. Berhane Kahsai, Law expert in the NCEW, said that there exist sound legal articles and guidelines as regards worker rights employer accountability. He also underlined the need of raising the awareness of workers regarding this.
